It is a pleasure writing in support of MEDALLION, a company that I am acquainted with for more than 8 years. MEDALLION, the Human Resources Company lead by Manesh Mathew was inducted to help CMC Vellore’s faculty development programme in 2008. I remained impressed by the down-to-earth, bottom-up approach they used to study our rather complex HR pyramid in our institution. Meeting every layer of faculty and doing an honest appraisal was their hallmark. The means was more important than the outcome, I noticed. The Medallion report of CMC remains the index HR exercise for the institution, tabled in 2009. It was not only insightful, but meticulously done and prophetic. Many of the original concepts that emerged from the study, found fruition in the course of CMC’s HR planning.
As Director between 2012 and 2017, I have benefitted from the know-how offered by Medallion in the HR planning I was responsible for. Overall, it has been rewarding and the credit largely goes to Medallion for putting a method into the maze that HR of a 8000-employee organization was, in 2008.
